Are you on the route to extra safety when severe weather strikes?
You have your US Safe Room as shelter in severe weather but now what? Take that extra step and be prepared when a tornado, or severe weather, strikes with this easy 3 step survival kit process.
Step 1: The Box
Get a sturdy medium sized plastic storage container. You want a container that can seal off water and is big enough to store two small blankets and other supplies. This type of tote can be found at a local department store and while you’re there pick up a few items to fill your container. These items include, but are not limited to;
- A small battery powered radio
- Canned food or protein packed power bars
- Batteries
- Several water bottles
- Small First Aid Kit
- Utility knife
- Small blankets
This is only a recommended list. You put in your box what you believe would be the more beneficial items for your family and situation.
Step 2: Documentation
One thing people don’t often think of when it comes to a survival kit is documentation. We recommend you keeping an up to date copy of your utility bill allowing you to have proof of residency. That way if a tornado were to wipe out your whole neighborhood you could prove to authorities where you live. Make sure you keep these in your survival kit so they are not swept away with forceful winds.
Step 3: Storage
We at US Safe Room recommend you keeping your new survival kit in your US Safe Room shelter. If you have not gotten a shelter from US Safe Room you can order yours today! Visit our website www.ussaferoom.com and there you will find more information, be able to contact a representative, and you can request a quote. In the mean time you can store your kit a closet or room on the bottom floor that does not have any windows.
