Portable safe rooms are redefining secure storm protection. While anchored or permanent safe room construction is the industry standard for residential and commercial enterprises, relocatable and temporary shelters have gained notable market traction. Portable safe rooms offer comparable protection as traditional underground bunkers or floor-level concrete affixed shelters. Temporary, moveable tornado shelters are versatile and durable. Each U.S. Safe Room tornado shelter meets FEMA 320 and 361 compliance standards and can be engineered to any county’s building codes. Although transportable tornado shelters are best for transient operations and jobsites, schools and community centers will also benefit from short-term leases without foregoing superior steel metallurgy.
What is a Portable Safe Room?
A portable safe room is a rapidly deployable storm shelter with increased turnkey access, allowing easy implementation and minimal upkeep. While concrete-bottom affixed shelters, which we also offer, engender enhanced security with clients, temporary tornado bunkers offer similar protection with optional steel anchoring and the unit’s sheer weight, proving a formidable foe to hellish winds. Quickly-shipped storm pods have found a welcomed home at southern and midwestern jobsites. Oil refineries, heavy construction, demolition work, and agricultural sectors commonly feature onsite, out-of-the-way portable safe rooms within a short retreat from regular operations.
How Do Temporary Shelters and Leases Work?
Temporary metal storm pods aren’t less safe than permanent models – they allow versatility for seasonal jobs and ongoing renovation projects. Following your signed lease agreement, we will ship your temporary storm unit on a flatbed freight transport to your jobsite or operations. The lessee is responsible for unloading a temporary safe room with a crane. Hoisting hooks or lifting lugs are standard for each shelter rental. Moveable tornado shelters are also available for purchase for industries encountering recurring jobsites. Shelter transport becomes the customer’s responsibility if purchased. Please consult our terms and conditions before the lease agreement. Shelter rentals are immediately available for use once unloaded and ground secured.
Mobile Safe Room Advantages
Temporary and easy-to-move custom storm shelters cost a fraction of permanent bunkers because they’re most commonly rented or leased. Although larger brick-and-mortar businesses require permanent, built-in safe rooms and bunkers, temporary steel metal shelters are rented during storm season before returned to our factory for winter and seasonal lulls. Many companies rent shelters annually before transporting them to other jobsites and factory shipping departments. Although most steel metal tornado shelters are married to the install site upon completion, mobile shelters can be moved, depending on logistical and workflow changes upon arrival or during lease tenure.
Lease vs Buy
Portable safe rooms are not always a good fit for specific industries. Many contractors quickly realize a more sizeable or permanent solution is necessary. Evaluating company needs and speaking with our building experts can alleviate any concerns and questions. Government funding assistance isn’t readily available for temporary shelters, although FEMA provides safe room reimbursement for qualifying installations. While we will provide the necessary paperwork for government applications, we cannot file on your behalf. Please consult your town’s emergency management office for additional details.
